Php programmer (Laravel) Middle
Who are we?
We are a fast-growing, direct-to-consumer startup distributing furniture online through French Marketplaces (e.g., Amazon). We achieved a 1,000% growth over the past 18 months, and we’re now looking to expand that success with our own B2C portal at the end of 2021.
We started as a remote-first company, with a global, fully distributed team across 10 countries. This creates an exciting, diverse and sharing environment and gives everyone a lot of flexibility in their work-life balance & locations. Be part of an entirely remote work environment where you’re free to work whenever and wherever you’d like.
What do we build?
We are looking for motivated engineers who will embrace the chaos of startup life (aka space for initiative and decision-making!) and join our Dev Team on a mission to bring our business to the next level.
We are present on many marketplaces and cooperate with multiple suppliers, so naturally our system grows in complexity. So far, the goal was to build the foundations quickly. You know what this means, don’t you? Now it’s time to start addressing the existing tech debt but (of course!) without compromising the speed of the active development. No worries, it’s on Anna, our Head of Product, to ensure you have enough space to enjoy the work and be able to find creative solutions to the challenges ahead.
Recently, we have added AWS to our tech stack to improve performance of our monolith Laravel app and improve the way our API connections operate. The effort to ameliorate our infrastructure (e.f., introduce a CI/CD pipeline.)
What’s the work about?
70% of our work is related to building solutions for our internal customer — Operations Team, who interact with the end Users. We spend 20% of the time on putting down fires and the remaining 10 — making sure we understand why they happened in the first place and come up with a plan to fix them. And actually fix them, that too 😉
- Recognize system deficiencies and implement effective solutions.
- Cooperate with the Product Manager in the process of gathering, defining, and analysing requirements to determine the most effective web technologies to satisfy business needs.
- Rapidly iterate and prototype,
- Design, test, and integrate system and enterprise software and multi-tier systems architectures.
- Teach, mentor, and build capabilities within the software engineering team.
- Maintain production code across several products.
- Improve engineering standards, deployment infrastructure, performance, testing, and code quality
- Provide direct input on technical and non-technical decisions. Your input is critical to the team’s success
- Zero red tape, pointless meetings, and BS that come with big companies.
- Solve challenging technical problems and put your skills to the test every day.
- Make strategic, proactive decisions on maintaining and upgrading projects
- Work with limited oversight on iterating existing codebases
Who are we looking for?
You have…
- 2-3+ years of demonstrated experience in web design and development in Laravel
- Experience in maintaining a brownfield project
- A solid understanding of how to build / interact with APIs and microservices
- Strong English communication skills
You are…
- Proactive and goal-oriented: you don’t wait to be told how to solve a problem but try to understand what’s the problem to solve and value to add.
- Very reliable & thorough: you accept responsibility for your work and its quality
- Self-motivated and capable of working remotely
- Willing to be part of a team & yet able to work independently
- Happy to become part of a small, international team of friendly & skilled professionals
- Patient and eager to embrace the chaos — we are all in it together
- Commitment to modular, documented code
- Excited about exploring new technologies and figuring things out
- Able to communicate complex technical topics to customers and co-workers of varying technical skill levels.

- In e-commerce
- With mobile and responsive design
Who won’t feel great with us?
If you appreciate the stability of work from 9 to 5, prefer to follow instructions than to come up with your ideas and solutions you may not find this environment a good match.

- Regular meetings with your manager and evaluation of your role in the company
- No-nonsense career plan,
